Abians adjust to 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. environmental sanitation

The new time for the state-wide environmental sanitation exercise in Abia kicked off today with residents largely complying with the new time regime, 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
The Task Torce on the Cleanup of Aba and Umuahia was on ground evacuating fresh dumps of refuse generated by residents, after it had demolished several mountains of wastes inherited by the new government in the two cities.
Earth moving equipment and trucks were deployed at various locations to remove the wastes, just as security agents were on hand to maintain the peace and ensure that residents fulfilled their civic obligations to the state.
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, had on Monday, June 19, 2023, directed the change of time for the sanitation programme which holds every last Saturday of the month.
The time was brought forward from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. to 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. to make the exercise more effective.
Pictures, below show some of the active locations of today’s sanitation exercise.
