The Abia State Ministry of Agriculture was created on 27th September, 1991 shortly after the creation of Abia State on 27th August, 1991 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. The ministry was created to oversee agricultural development in the region called Abia State. The ministry is located at Library Avenue Road, Umuahia, Abia State.

The ministry was created to oversee agricultural development in the region called Abia State. The ministry is located at Library Avenue Road, Umuahia, Abia State. Currently, the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze is charged with the responsibility of piloting the affairs that will promote the development of Abia State in the agricultural sector. Furtherance of its mandate, the ministry invites reputable and qualified companies, investors and managers to express interest in the management and operation of key agricultural estates and plantations across the state. This initiative aims to enhance productivity, stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities for local communities, and ensure the long term sustainability.
