The Abia State Global Economic Advisory Council (AGEAC) is focused on addressing key economic challenges and opportunities to drive sustainable growth and development in Abia State. Through a strategic and collaborative approach, we have identified several priorities that guide our efforts towards achieving our vision for the state’s economic future.
Housing

- Accelerate infrastructure within the state (increase investments in Power, Digital, Transportation, Healthcare, Education).

- Provide support to garments, shoes and other sectors that the State is competitive in.
- Business support services (marketing, digitalization, partnerships).

Health
- Train healthcare professionals (nurses, medical professionals, pacers etc.).
- Revamp health centers in all communities.

- Continuous training of secondary and tertiary schools.

Technology
- Digitalize Abia State (e-Abia).
- Every citizen should have a digital identity.
- Expand broadband reach.
- Establish at least one tech hub in each LGA.
- All citizens to be digitally literate.

- Create an investor data site/portal.

Renewable Energy
- Unlock the State’s ability to provide renewable energy solutions including solar, wind and green hydrogen.
- Increase investments in smart grids, energy storage solutions etc.
- Foster partnerships to collaborate on renewable energy projects.
- Engage in international collaborations and agreements to share best practices, technologies, and expertise.
- Create public awareness to educate citizens about the benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Mining
- Identify all the mineral resources in the State.
- Cadastral and geo mapping survey of minerals in the state.
- Prioritize any critical minerals.
- Build knowledge around mineral opportunity.
- Strengthen mining laws and policies.
- Strengthen and scale the ecosystem for commercialization (infrastructure, inspection, export, etc).
- Travel up the value chain by ensuring value addition within the state.
- Partner with international mining companies.
- Develop critical mineral value chains in areas where the state has comparable advantage.

Agriculture
- Identify crops and livestock to focus on.
- Train citizens on modern agricultural skills.

- Establish a Special Agro-Processing Zone.
- Circular agriculture – rice and fish farming.
