Warning over the printing and selling of fake Road Worthy certificates in the state.

Abia State House of Assembly Adhoc Committee on Ministry of Transport and IGR has warned that henceforth any staff of the Board of Internal Revenue and Motor Licensing offices in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state that involves in printing and selling of fake Road Worthy Certificates and other vehicle papers would face the full wrath of the law.
Handing down this warning during a public hearing session convened by the committee set up by the House of Assembly to investigate a petition by an Ministry of Transport consultant – N.A Adeniyi, the chairman of the committee, Hon.Chidi Nwosu and some other members of the committee lamented the alleged involvement of the staff in the printing and selling of fake vehicle papers, thereby denying Abia State government of the much needed internally generated Revenue (IGR).
Hon. Nwosu cautioned them to desist from encouraging touts milling around their offices and cooperating with them in producing and selling those fake vehicle documents, regretting that the same people accusing the state government of not doing much are themselves allegedly diverting the money government would have used in developing the state to their pockets.
He assured those who were invited to the public hearing that the exercise was not intended to witch-hunt anybody, but to find ways of shoring up the consistently dwindling IGR in-take of the state, and plug every avenue of leakage of government funds.

while the Commissioner for Transport, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, Commissioner, Nene Nwuzor, the Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue (BIR), Mr. Umeh Chiedozie and the petitioner, A.N Adeniyi testified before the committee.
