The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia Governor, Ugochukwu Emezue has declared that Ochendo youth Organisation is not funded by Abia State Government.
According to Mr Emezue, (O.Y.F.) is a non-governmental organization that derives its funding from well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies and even Faith based Organizations. Mr Emezue said this clarification has become necessary following a write up in the media by one Odimegwu Onwumere who claimed to be a poet, but in reality a failed politician from Abia who wants to create doubt in the minds of the people over the good intention of Ochendo Youth Foundation, being coordinated by Engr. Chinedum Orji.
Just recently, youths in Ohafia were given various items to empower them such as sewing machines and hair dressers. Some also got keke Napep and cars for transport business. The foundation also gave 150 students scholarship.
Mr. Emezue hinted that such personalities like Senator Uche Chukwumerjie, House of Reps member, Arua Arunsi and the speaker of Abia state House of Assembly, Udo Okochukwu amongst others are notable Abia sons who have contributed immensely to the success of the foundation.
According to the Chief Press Secretary, the reason for the establishment of OYF which has been registered is to act as a platform upon which Abia youths are being empowered for the future challenges. In the past months, the foundation has given succour to those considered the “never do well” in Abia, by providing them with keke Napep, buses, and even cash incentives, which have changed their lives for the better. Rather than begging, they have turned to employers of labour Mr. Emezue said.
Mr Emezue maintained that O.Y.F will continue to play the role of laying solid foundation for the youths of Abians as its targets is to assist government in reducing unemployment in the state. No amount of blackmail will stop OYF, as its set to move to other local government areas in the state to take care of the youths Emezue concluded.
