The Abia State Local Organization Committee, L.O.C as patriotically set up by His Excellency, Governor T.A. Orji, for the burial of the former Governor of defunct Eastern Region of Nigeria; His Excellency, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Ikemba Nnewi, wishes to acquaint Abians with the programme of activities drawn up for the burial of the fallen quintessential leader and hero of the Igbo Nation.
According to a release issued at Umuahia by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy and the Chairman of the Sub-committee on Media and publicity of the Local Organizing Committee; Chief (Sir) Don Ubani, there will be prayer for the Late Ikemba in all Churches in Igbo-Land on Sunday February, 25 2012 while his body will arrive Aba on Tuesday 28 February, 2012 and will be received and honoured at the Enyimba International Stadium,
On Thursday March 1, 2012 there will be National Funeral Ceremony at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Stadium, Enugu while interment will take place on Friday March 2, 2012 at Ezeigbo compound in Nnewi, after a Requiem mass (in Latin).
Abians are, by this announcement, urged to come out en masse on Tuesday 28 February, 2012 to pay their last respect at Aba to the leader who stood behind them when it mattered most in their struggle for collective survival and existence.
