Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has once again, appealed to Abians to remain calm and not to panic over the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which ruled against him, ordering him to vacate office as governor of the state.
The Governor admonished Abians to disregard the rumour making the rounds that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will issue a certificate of return to Mr. Uche Ogah as Governor, stressing that he (Ikpeazu) remains the Governor of the state.
He also said that he has filed a notice of appeal and a stay of execution order against the ruling of Justice Abang, making it impossible in law for anybody, including INEC, to act on the said order, pending he determination of his appeal.
The Governor asked Abians to go about their lawful business without fear, promising that his government will not be deterred or distracted, but will continue to ensure the protection of life and property of all Abians.
Governor Ikpeazu, who expressed strong faith in the judiciary, said that he believes that the appellant courts will reverse the ruling and restores his mandate.
Governor Ikpeazu, however warned those who are bent on fomenting trouble and causing chaos in the state to have a rethink as any attempt to throw the state into crisis will be resisted.
He called on the security agencies in the state to ensure that law and order is maintained in the state.
