PRESS RELEASE:

The Abia State Commissioner for Petroleum and Solid Mineral’s Development; Chief (Sir) Don Ubani, has called on the Management of Pipeline Products and Marketing Company (PPMC) to urgently address the devastating effect of non-supply of petroleum products to Aba Depot which has been starved of Products for some time now.

In a press statement issued at Umuahia, Chief Ubani noted that the unavailability of Petroleum Products at the P.P.M.C Depot at Osisioma-Aba continued to impact adversely on fuel consumers of petroleum products in the State, especially Premium Motor Sprit PMS, which has consequently affected prices as Petroleum Marketers are now compelled to source for products from outside Government-controlled supply links.

The Commissioner was particularly worried that Tank Farm operators are taking undue advantage of the unavailability of products at the Aba Depot by hiking process of the products, making it impossible for marketers to sell at government regulated process. Chief Ubani, therefore, called on owners of Tank Farms to desist from shylock in their business operation.

On the heels of the above scenario, Chief Ubani calls on the comptroller of Department of Petroleum Resources; DPR, Aba; Dr O.U.J Ogwo, who has sealed off some filling stations in the State to unseal them as no marketer is expected, under any circumstance to sell a product he bought at a price above ninety naira from tank farm at Government price of eighty seven naira.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner has urged Abians to exhibit their usual level of understanding in the face of the challenges arising from the downstream sector of the Petroleum Industry. He assured that the Problem would soon be a thing of the past.
