"My administration is not owing teachers nor council staff any salary arrears" Gov.T.A. Orji

Abia State Governor Chief T. A. Orji says his administration owes neither Local Government Councils’ staff nor Teachers any salary arrears. He also debunked the claims that the Council workers were not paid the new minimum wage.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary Ugochukwu Emezue, Governor Orji stated that the new minimum wage of N20,100 was across board. The Governor stated that the reason why staff of few Councils got their salaries late was because of their refusal to be captured in the ongoing biometric capturing exercise in the State. Chief Orji also stated that the delay in the payment was also informed by the discovery of financial fraud recorded in the affected councils. The Governor said that those involved in the scandal will be punished.
Governor Orji again stated his commitment to make the welfare of civil servants a priority. He solicited their support as he strives to transform the State in all sectors. He warned that his administration will not condone corruption.
