MULTISKILL AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, ABIA STATE TO EXPORT ITS PRODUCTS

Mrs Gertrude Ukoanam (the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Deputy Director/Regional Coordinator South East) visited Multiskill and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Abia State to discuss plans to export products from the various production units of the Centre.

She was impressed by the Governor’s vision for this programme and the quality of the finished products.
She assured the center of her organisation’s support to access especially, the United State of America’s African Growth opportunity Act (AGOA) programme that enhances market access to the US for qualifying Sub-Saharan countries.
One of the strategic plans to ensure that trainees are motivated to stay on the programme as well as transit into self-employment is the concept of exporting what they produce at the various production units.
Earning part of the proceeds appeals especially to the Libyan returnees that are being rehabilitated at the Centre.
Plans are also underway to export to countries within the ECOWAS region.
