The Wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has urged Religious women, non-governmental organizations and community based associations to join hands with government in helping the less privileged in our society .
Mrs. Ikpeazu made this call at the St. Michaels Anglican Church Aba, during the diocesan Women’s Guild Biennial Conference Thanksgiving Service .
She urged women not to relent in playing their roles as mothers in the family, community and society and their enormous responsibility in the church which includes promoting skills acquisition, empowerment and catering for the welfare of the less privileged especially the indigent widows in their midst.
Mrs Ikpeazu reiterated the determination of her office to positively touch the lives of the downtrodden and partner the Anglican Communion Women’s Guild in promoting the welfare of women in the society.
Preaching a sermon titled ‘Sufficient Grace’ the Bishop of Aba Diocese Rt. Rev.Christian Ugwuzor said that Christians should check themselves thoroughly before approaching God and stressed that jealousy, conspiracy and wickedness cannot stop God’s hand of mercy upon a child of God.
He advised women to always show gratitude to God for all their achievement and hinted that with grace from above a child of God can do the impossible.
The highlight of the service was the decoration of the Wife of the Governor as the Mother of the Church.
