Who We Are
The Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs is dedicated to enhancing the rights, welfare, and quality of life of women and girls across the state. Established in 1991 following Abia’s creation from Imo State, the Ministry has been responsible for formulating gender-responsive policies, strengthening social support systems, and ensuring access to empowerment and protection services in both urban and rural communities. Guided by a vision to position Abia as a leader in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, the Ministry collaborates with local and international partners to advance opportunities and safeguard the well-being of women and girls.

The Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs is committed to advancing the rights, welfare, and empowerment of women and girls across the state. Through inclusive policies, advocacy, and innovative programmes, the Ministry works to ensure that every woman and girl has access to opportunities, protection, and support needed to lead a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life.

To design, align, and implement policies and programmes that maximise the empowerment, protection, and welfare of women and girls in Abia State, leveraging strategic partnerships, innovative approaches, and strong networks to deliver impactful interventions, services, and support systems.
