The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD has called on the people of Abia State to be grateful to God for the gift of life in a year that has proven to be the most challenging in a long time.

In his Christmas message to Abians on the ocassion of the 2020 Christmas, Governor Ikpeazu noted that the challenges that came with the present year make it imperative for our people to show deep gratitude to God for His love and care, and for the gift of life.

Noting that the pandemic of Covid-19 which shook the very foundations of the world and thoroughly ravaged the economies of all countries in the world remains the most powerful challenge mankind has faced in recent years.

Governor Ikpeazu calls on Abians to use the occasion of Christmas to reflect on the huge impact the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ has had on humanity and to imbibe the message of peace and hope for a better tomorrow.

While assuring Abians of the total commitment of his administration to make life better for our people, the Governor used the opportunity to remind our people that the 62 active road projects across the state will be completed on schedule.

The Governor noted with joy that for the first time in over 30 years, total reconstruction work has commenced on Ngwa Road, Ohanku Road, Obohia and Uratta Roads.
This, the Governor noted, is one of the most significant milestones in his administration’s desire to renew our infrastructural stock in the state.
The Governor reaffirmed his total commitment to the completion of those key projects and indeed other infrastructural projects across the state.
“My firm promise to the people of Abia State, the Governor added, ” is that I will handover a state that is significantly improved in terms of critical infrastructure”.

Governor Ikpeazu also uses the opportunity of this Christmas mesasge to remind our people of the resurgence of the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic across the country and urges everyone to take the issue very seriously, while taking steps to deliberately comply with the laid down protocols as advised by relevant health authorities.
“As we celebrate the Christmas with our families and friends, let us remain mindful of the dangers of COVID-19 and remember to wear our masks whenever we are in crowded public places”.

The Governor concluded his message by assuring our people that “our tomorrow shall be greater than our today”.

Merry Christmas to all Abians.
