URGES CONTRACTOR TO SPEED UP WORK ON THE EXPANSION WORK.
After today’s Press Conference, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu paid a visit to the old Infectious Diseases HOSPITAL (IDH) Aba which has been renovated and designated as an Isolation Center for Aba.
Built by the Colonial Masters in the 1950s, the Infectious Diseases Hospital Aba had long been abandoned.
The challenge of the outbreak of the COVID-19 and the desire to create as many Isolation Centers across the State as possible motivated the Governor to “rediscover” the old IDHand ordered that renovation work commence there immediately.
As at today, the main Isolation Center has been completed and made very comfortable for potential patients while all the necessary equipment for the operation of a standard center are on ground.
Not satisfied with that, Governor Ikpeazu decided to push further and bring the old hospital back to life to serve as a Center for the management of infectiohs diseases going forward.
He approved that the entire premises be renovated.
This is presently ongoing and the Governor has given marching orders to the Contractor to speed up the rate of work and deliver the project as quickly as possible.
The new IDH, when completed will have all the basic facilities for the operation of the new hospital as well as accommodation for staff.
The Governor was taken round the premises today by the State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association and a member of the State Covid-19 Committee, Dr Mrs Iwuoha.
