Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that he will not disappoint fellow “Aba boys” whose expectations from him are very legitimate, stating that he will most definitely leave Aba and indeed Abia State, better than he met them and set the foundations for a more prosperous future.
The Governor stated this today while receiving a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim at Government House Umuahia, and further assured that his a good number of his policies are futuristic in nature, some of which will begin to manifest their benefits after his exit from office.
He thanked the former Governor whom he described as his “friend and brother” for finding time to come to see what his administration is doing and to proffer useful suggestions to him. He congratulated Chief Ohakim for heading the Committee which successfully reactivated the Ahiajoku Lecture which he described as the intellectual pride of Ndigbo.
Speaking earlier, former Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Ikedi Ohakim told the Governor that his visit was “double barreled” in nature.
First, he became to convey the appreciation of the Government and people of Imo State to Governor Ikpeazu for his support and personal participation at the 40th anniversary of the Ahiajoku Lecture. According to him, Ikpeazu’s support and the wise counsel he gave to the Ahiajoku Institute will remain fresh in their memory.
Secondly, Chief Ohakim said he was in Umuahia to identify with Governor Ikpeazu’s push to lay a solid foundation for the growth of Aba through the Enyimba Economic City Project. According to Ohakim, his study of the business model of the Enyimba Economic City shows that it is a clear roadmap to the development of not just Aba and Abia but the entire South East. He stated that he came with a top investor who has indicated interests in the project and would want to invest there.
Chief Ohakim said the Aba blood runs in his veins having been born and brought up in the Enyimba City, and as such when he sees something that will be great for the people of Aba in the very nearest future, he will know it. He urged other discerning investors to “bend down and see” the benefits in the Enyimba Economic City Project
He thanked the Governor for leading what he called the Agricultural Revolution in the South East through his various interventions in Palm Oil, Rice and Poultry, stating that policies such as these are key to the quest of our region for sufficiency in food production.
