Recently the Market Union of Umuahia Main Market appealed to the Governor of the State, Chief T.A. Orji through the committee for the relocation of the market on the issue of the price of stores in the new market and the method of payment.
After due consideration at the plight of the traders and the prevailing economic situation in the country, His Excellency, Chief Theodore Orji, the Governor of Abia State has decided as follows:
1. All traders who will be relocated to the new market will pay a deposit of one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000.00), instead of the initial fee of one hundred and fifty thousand naira.
2. The traders will pay a non-refundable fee of twenty thousand naira only.
3. The traders who own stores at the old market will pay total sum of four hundred thousand naira only for each store of which the one hundred thousand naira deposited is part of.
Those who do not own any store at the old market will pay a total sum of five hundred thousand naira only for each store of which the one hundred thousand deposited will form part of.
The balance of three hundred thousand naira for store owners and four hundred thousand naira for non store owners will be paid instalmentally within a period of four years.
