Schools Management
Overseeing the overall operation and management of basic schools, including the posting of headteachers and principals, curriculum and scheme of work implementation, provision of instructional materials, provision of infrastructure, extracurricular activities, and maintaining a clean and green school environment.
Teacher Training (Upskilling and Reskilling)
Routinely enhancing the capacity of teachers with modern pedagogical skills, both online and in real-time.
Quality Assurance
Conducting Whole School Evaluations, School Self- Evaluations, daily school visits, and examination monitoring using prescribed templates. These evaluations provide independent feedback across seven key aspects: teaching and learning, achievement and standards, learner personal skills and participation, curriculum and other activities, learning environment, care, guidance and safety, and leadership and management.
Community Participation and Engagement
Providing platforms for continuous community interface to support school development. Currently, 836 School- Based Management Committees (SBMCs) are functional, implementing self-help projects funded by both the community and the government.
Administration and Staff Management
Overseeing the administration and management of staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations within the board and schools.
Collaboration with International Development Partners
The Board attracted the UNICEF team from Abuja who are ready to support Foundational Literacy and Numeracy intervention in Abia schools. British Council and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have also been interacting with the Board to identify areas for immediate collaboration and partnership.
