ABIA TO UPGRADE FACILITIES AT THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY
Abia state government has restated her commitment towards upgrading facilities at the State College of Health Sciences and Management technology Aba to enable the college achieve academic excellence.
The governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who stated this at 8th matriculation ceremony of the college held at its event ground noted that as a government that valued education, it would continue to promoted policies that would guarantee conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in all educational institutions in state.
Represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Okochukwu, the governor said that as government that has education as one of its major cardinal pillars, it would continue to evolved policies and programmes that would move the school in particular and other institutions of learning to greater heights
The Governor assured them that the state would ensure that subventions to the school are release to them as when due.
He commended the Rector and management of the college for prudent management of available resources and their indelible imprint in infrastructural and education development as well as ensuing that courses offered in the colleges were accredited and urged them to sustain the tempo.
Dr Ikpeazu congratulated the matriculants for scaling through the hurdles of gaining admission into the institution and charged them to desist from engaging in cultism and other social vices but to concentrate and study hard to come out with excellent results as to make their parents ,college and state proud.
In his address, the Rector, Prof Chudi Felix Ezeama disclosed that a total of 1,368 Students participated in the matriculation exercise .
Prof Ezem revealed that the college runs three schools with eleven department for the award of National Diploma and Higher Diploma programmes in various courses and appreciated efforts of the governor okezie Ikpeazu who he said was it first governing council of the college in seeing that the college reached an enviable height.
Prof Ezeama said the college has shifted from being a monothenic to a polytechnic and disclosed that the National Board for Technical Education has accredited all their courses and assured the matriculants of a conducive environment to achieve their academic pursuit. He urged them to shun all forms of negative vices as the college has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.
