Abia State House of Assembly has approved Governor Ikpeazu’s request to spend excess loan deduction refund of N10.6b.
50% of the money will be spent on salary arrears and the remainder on infrastructure development.
Details:
N5.3b to be spent on paying Salary and pension arrears.
N1.7b on road infrastructure.
N2.5b on bridges.
N685m on Hospitals
N200m for street lighting.
Earlier today, during a media interaction with Abians aired via BCA, Governor Ikpeazu promised to construct a flyover bridge at Osisioma junction of Enugu-PH highway to enable proper channeling of traffic and ease gridlocks at that key entry point.
Governor Ikpeazu also assured Abians that if the current NDDC contractor fail to commence work early next year at Ohanku road Aba his government will take over the road and execute palliative measures for the benefit of Abians.
Also during the earlier interaction with Abians, the Governor assured workers that as soon as the house of assembly approves the spending of the excess deduction refund the committee set up by his administration will commence disbursement of outstanding salaries and pensions to workers as he cannot spend without approval of the house.
The house met later under the leadership of new Speaker, Hon. Chinwendu Kanu (PDP, Isiala Ngwa South) and gave the governor approval to spend as stated above.
