The National Identity Management Commission NIMS today paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Abia state at the Government House Umuahia, the delegation was led by the state Coordinator of the Commission, Chief Loveday Chika Ogbonna.
According to Chief Ogbonna, the delegation from the Commission were on a THANK YOU visit to the state government for providing them with an office in the state capital which according to him will go a long way towards enhancing their productivity. He solicited for more partnership between the state government and the commission for a more better service delivery to Abians.
He assured that the National Identity Card has now improved, digitalized and can be used in many different countries and as well can serve as credit cards. The State Coordinator however pleaded with the state government to as well help them in getting offices and materials in all the 17 LGAs of the state for easy registration and collections of the cards.
Responding, the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who was ably represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu thanked the delegation for appreciating the efforts of the state government and reassured them of the readiness of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration’s readiness in partnering with them and other Federal government agencies in service delivery to the good people of the State.
He conveyed the reassuring message of the Governor to them saying that in no distance time, the government of the state would constitute a committee that will include all the Local Government Chairmen in the state with the aim of establishing offices for the commission across the state and also giving them all necessary support.
The Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the Head of Service of Abia state, Sir Onyi Wamah, Permanent Secretaries, Capt Awa Udensi Rtd and many other top government officials were present during the visit.
