Abia State Government launches Grants on Agro -Based Cooperation, Village Health Workers and Conditional Cash Transfer

Abia State Government in collaboration with the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs launches Grants on
*Agro-Based Cooperatives (ABC)
* Village Health Workers (VHW)
*Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT)
The focal Persons:
The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) under this scheme 2250 households will be benefiting. They are to satisfy the following conditions:
*Those with Children under 0-5 years must immunize them.
*Pregnant women must attend the ante-natal in the PHCs provided by MDGs to their communities.
Those with Children between 5-15 years must have 90% attendance in School.
Each Household will receive 5,000 (Five thousand Naira) only every month for a period of one year, and a grant of 100,000 only at the expiration of the scheme, which is expected to be invested in Agro related businesses. The beneficiaries have been issued with a cell phone with Glo SIM card each. This will alert them when their account is credited by Eco Bank Plc.
The Agro-based cooperatives: This innovation will geared towards job creation in rural areas in the agricultural sector. It is aimed at attaining food security and attainment of MDGs goal 1 which is eradication if extreme poverty and hunger. The selected 36 Agro based cooperatives will receive 500,000 Five Hundred Thousand Naira each.
The Village Health Workers Scheme: This time, conditionally Grant Scheme seeks to move beyond building of infrastructures and improving service delivery to the responding to emerging priorities and challenges. One of such issues is the need to increase to increase the uptake and utilization of MDGs health facilities across the country, hence the VHWs scheme. They are paid 15,000 Fifteen Thousand Naira Only monthly.
