Abia State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Gozie John Ahukannah on Monday, August 8, 2016 chaired the Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM)steering committee meeting at “The Oxygen” in Owerri, Imo state.
It was yet another opportunity to review the road map for sustaining the Ministry’s community program, targeted at treating malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea(the main childhood killer diseases) in the under 5s, being pioneered by only Abia and Niger States in Nigeria and funded/organised by The World Health Organisation.
The need to take ownership of this program when WHO vacates it in 2017 can not be over emphasized, hence the need to assemble all the stake holders from the community and through the local Governments to the state level to brainstorm.
