Abia State Government has purchased 17 new buses to subsidize transportation cost in the State. Governor Orji who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary Ugochukwu Emezue, said that this is the first phase of the Mass Transit Scheme which will cater for the 17 Local Government in the State. Chief Orji hinted that he embarked on the scheme to mitigate the pains being experienced by Abians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. Speaking further the Governor stated that the second phase of the Mass Transit Scheme will be launched in few months’ time. Chief Orji said that his government will always go the extra mile to address the welfare of its citizens. Governor Orji while calling for patience of the part of Abians urged the management of Abia Line Transport Limited to ensure the efficient running of the scheme. According to the Governor all Abians must feel the impact of the transport scheme.
