In furtherance of the giant strides in infrastructural development and good governance in Abia State , the Verbatim magazine has presented an award of governor of the year 2017 to Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State.
The award is coming on the heel of a similar award of Governor of the year 2017 by the Vanguard News paper on Dr. Ikpeazu in recognition of the great transformation his government has bought to bear in the administration of the state.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, at Conference Hall,Nicon luxury Hotel, Abuja,the deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu thanked the magazine for finding the governor worthy of the honour, assuring that the administration would continue make life more meaningful to Abians.
Sir oko Chukwu promised the sustainace of dividends of democracy to the people not only in infrastructural development but in instilling confidence in the minds of the people to be proud of what they produced.
The acting governor stated that the campaign on made in Aba product which has made the state to become no one marketer of local products would be sustained.
He said the culture of honouring people who have distinguished themselves in various field of human endeavors would spur one to do more and stimulate others to crave for such honour through excellent service.
Among those also recognized at the event included former governor of Abia state and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Sen T.A.ORJi who begged the award for beacon of hope for the democracy and also recognized in the public service category include, the V.C University of Nigeria Nsukka,Prof Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba, V.C Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof Ibrahim Garbage, the V.C Imo State University Owerri, Prof Victoria Adaobi Obasi.
